good in bed

I finished this book awhile ago but forgot to write that I did. It's the second book I've read by Jennifer Weiner (first one here). I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and also really hard to put down. I can't figure out a way to write what this book is about without giving away too much story, so click here to read what the back of the book says. I will recommend this book to everyone! Read it, seriously, it's too fun to pass up.

I'm now onto my third book by Jennifer Weiner, Certain Girls, it's a continuation of Good in Bed. I love that there's a second book with the same main character!

silhouettes

Some nice silhouette portraits of the kids. A friend (with no blog) helped me out with making the silhouettes since I don't have any program on my computer to do it. I bought the frames for $1 each at the dollar store and spray painted them an egg shell blue. You can't tell from the crappy picture but the blue is really nice. The only thing that sucks about the frames is that I cannot get any hardware on them to hang up, I've been getting very frustrated with it. So, they're just sitting up on my mantel, no picture of that, I've got one ugly ass mantel. I can't wait to move and not have it anymore.

green sock monkey

Last night, I decided to finally finish the second sock monkey. Again, no ears but the girls don't notice that at all, they are cuddling with both right now. Hubby is bugging me to make one for him too, we will see if I feel up to that, maybe by Christmas I'll have made him one.

hanging lanterns

This wasn't on my to-craft list but it was something I wanted to do for some time now. The plan at first was to make those paper poofs with white tissue paper but I made an unexpected trip to Michaels last night and found these super cute paper lanterns in the dollar section. So, plans changed but I like the way it turned out. I made them to hang in the girls' room, trying to brighten the place up a bit. They are definitely cheery, made me smile to put them up in the room.

The super awesome Stephanie agreed to send me some cut out butterflies. I didn't want to buy the punch since this would probably be the only thing I make with the butterflies, those things are not cheap! Stephanie used some really great papers, they were way cuter than I could have expected. Thank you so much Stephanie! By the way go check out her site if you've never been, she makes gorgeous scrapbook layouts and takes amazing pictures of her beautiful babies.

where to buy?

She looks like a doll when she sleeps, does she not? I have a folder on my computer completely dedicated to her asleep, mostly all in the strangest places. I really want to make a coffee table book because it's really funny to see some of the crazy spots this girl passes out at.

But, here's where I need your help. What's a good place to order a good quality picture book? Hopefully one that will ship to Canada. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

how I wish & a finish

I really, really wish I knew how to make granny squares! I have a book on it's way to help me learn, so someday I will know how to make one. I just wish it was now. I'll just keep on drooling over the ones other people make for now.

By the way, the very second after I posted about my crafty slackerness, I pulled out my sock monkeys and am already finished one! No ears, I had tried sewing them on the machine forever ago, so I had one extra that I hand stitched, they turned out completely different. So, no ears. No big deal, it's still cute and super cuddly.

crafty slacker

How sad is it that I have that big old list of crafty tutorials over there and only one thing is actually made from it? And I haven't updated that list in awhile, I've got much more bookmarked that needs to be added. I think I should get on making some of those things!

First thing to get finished is those sock monkey's, I started them before Christmas and they're still sitting in a bag waiting to be stuffed. Maybe it will be done by tonight, we'll see.

one last easter craft

The Easter bunny left these little wee bunnies on Easter morning. Plus an extra of the green and argyle one, that one was at aunty's house at the time. The blue one would be my favorite, it's the fattest and it rattles, Zach loves it too. They were sewn up really fast the night before, I... err, the Easter bunny was too tired to sew them up properly and decided to just machine sew them closed but the kids don't notice at all and carry them everywhere anyway.

The pattern is one I've had stored away for quite some time, it was super quick and easy! They turned out so cute

heartbreaking.

Yesterday, a very heartbreaking event happened. Madeline, daughter to Heather and Mike passed away. You probably won't be able to get to the page right now, it's been very overloaded with people offering condolences. They don't want flowers but they would love for anyone to donate to the March of Dimes, they have well passed their original goal. I have a widget leading directly to her page over to the left too.

My heart is breaking for Heather and her family right now.

quick sewing project.

I've been seeing different baby pants around the web and I finally decided to try my hand at it. Especially after I found this little tutorial and I already knew exactly what shirt I was going to use for it.

One of hubby's old, stained shirts. It's been sitting in a corner because I just couldn't get rid of it, I just love the fabric. So glad to finally have found something to use it for. And this is what it turned into.

A brand spanking new pair of pants for my little man! They turned out pretty darn good I think. This is a super easy and fast project, go find some t-shirts that you can transform too! I plan on making some more, as long as these ones fit my man that is. Now I just need to be patient waiting for him to get up.

he's back!

The smiley little man has made his return! He was replaced by a fussy, cranky, screaming baby this last week.

Looking for a small (or big) project to do this weekend? Check out all this big list for some amazing ideas! My brain is hurting from all the possibilities now.

easter cards.

Last night I finished up the cards that I'm sending for the kids mail swap, the kids helped out with the gluing and of course the filling them out part. I got the idea from here, I planned on sewing them on but I wanted to make it something my kids could help me with more. They turned out pretty cute I think. I cut out more bunnies because I was planning on doing postcards instead of just regular cards. But I scrapped the idea and threw together a little garland to put up instead.

Bunny pattern was used from an embroidery pattern found here.

a break.

calendar from little brown pen.

I've decided I need to take a break. No, not from here, why would I need to do that? I sometimes forget to post things anyway. My break is from etsy, yes I said it. My goal is to not buy anything for the entire month of April. If I do post anything etsy bought during the month, it's only because it was purchased before April. I'm still waiting on a few things to get here. No seriously, I am. It takes more time for things to get to me here in Canada it seems.

It's going to be hard because that place can just suck you right in, there are too many talented people out there. And too many good deals to be had. But, I will be strong and make it to the 30th, maybe even longer than that, we'll see how rough it is. I really can't believe that I am actually addicted to shopping online, I'm usually a very cheap person. I hate spending money usually, so I don't know where this came from!

Well, here's to a month of no etsy purchases!

win a pattern & jelly roll!

Go over to Green Fairy Quilts for a chance to win a jelly roll and pattern to use it on. I want to win though, so I can prove to hubby that you really can make a quilt from one jelly roll!
