new moon

I finished this the other day and I loved this book! I guess I don't have much to say about it that anyone reading this wouldn't already know, so many people have read this series already. I really liked Jacob in this book, but Edward is still my favorite. I can't wait until the movie for this book comes out, I know already from the previews it changed some of the story but I'm sure it'll be okay to watch anyway. I watched Twilight the other night and as usual the book was much better, movies never seem to do books justice.

I'm most likely going to take a bit of a break from the Twilight saga since the next two are still only in hardcover. I am not a fan of hardcover at all! I may end up reading them if my sister buys them but I don't see that happening either, she's also not a hardcover fan.

I'll survive though, I picked up two new books yesterday so I have some reading material to get me through the rest of the summer. I got The Time Traveller's Wife and Nineteen Minutes, they seem long enough to last awhile.

no creativity here

I realize I haven't posted anything in about a week, there hasn't been much going on around here besides heat, heat and more heat. We did get a bit of a break yesterday with it raining all day but it was still hot. I haven't felt much up to doing much of anything, no sewing has been done at all. I did a little bit on my big granny square blanket, I could easily be done with it but sitting in one spot for too long in the heat is too tiring.

I got my button swap package in the mail from Jo last week. She gave me some really great buttons, I wish my camera had batteries in it so I could show photos right now. I should have bought batteries over two weeks ago, I forget everything when I get to the store, the list is always forgotten at home, so that doesn't help. I'll blame the heat on my absentmindedness.

Hopefully the heat will subside a bit soon, so I can start wanting to do things again. I did some reading on Saturday though, if you want to call that getting something done. I've been sucked into it but I don't mind, I love it!

twilight

It has happened, after so long of avoiding this saga like the plague, I gave in and read the first book. I didn't expect to really enjoy it as much as I did but I ended up reading it all in one day. It was just so good and yes I am now very much in love with Edward. I didn't get why everyone thought Robert Pattinson was so attractive before but I do now. I envisioned him as Edward while I was reading and boy is he dreamy! I plan to watch the movie now, I hope it doesn't suck as much as I've heard.

I borrowed the book from my sister, she's still reading New Moon, she said I'm going to have to wait at least a week to get it from her. I'll have to force myself not to read so quickly with this next one, I don't want to be hurting so badly to read more like I am now. Is anyone else out there as into the Twilight saga as I now am?

Last night I decided to pick something back up that I had given right up on, crochet! When I first tried to learn, I started with all the basic stitches but not a granny square which was the whole reason I wanted to give crocheting a shot. I pulled up this youtube video and got to work last night. I have to say I am completely hooked now, after the second round I really got the hang of it and didn't want to stop. My stitches aren't all even but I don't think it looks too horrible for my first ever try at it. See:



One big huge granny square! I want to keep going and make Zach a little blanket out of it. Obviously not a warm blanket, but it's summer so it's something to snuggle with. I could have worked on this all through the night if I hadn't ran out of the yarn.

I didn't think I'd get a Get Your Creative On post up this week, I'm so glad I picked up my crochet last night. I think everyone should give something new a try!

what's in a bloggy name?

Fun post over at 1/4 of an inch today, all about your blog name. I think it's a fun topic and I'm curious to read all the posts about this.

Mine is not so interesting or exciting, really it isn't. Still, I thought I'd give an explanation of my name too. When I started this blog, I wasn't into any one thing in particular. I really started it as a place to vent and talk about my life raising my kids. I called it 'daily randomness' because I knew I would be writing very random posts. You can't really label my blog as one thing, I like crafts, reading and I talk about my kids often. I dropped the 'daily' awhile ago, no real reason, just got tired of it I guess. So, that's it, just a blog full of randomness.

My prize from the Giveaway Day came in the mail today. My camera is dead and there's no batteries in the house, so if you want to see the awesomeness that I won, go to my crafty mess to see! I'm super excited and it came at a perfect time, we're going swimming tonight.

Baked cupcakes like these the other day with the left over chocolate eggs that were sitting in the freezer. They are delicious, I need to make more. Speaking of cupcakes, I found what I plan on making for Zach's birthday, cookie monster cupcakes! They look great, hopefully mine don't turn out like the ones shown at Cake Wrecks

Every Friday over at the Creative Mama is "Get Your Creative On". You can post about anything creative you've done. I plan on trying to participate every week, it'll be nice to get at least one creative thing done a week. Being creative always makes me feel better, so this might be just what I need right now. I don't have anything this week unfortunately, although you can click here to see the beginnings on my very first quilt top. I would have finished it off yesterday but a migraine has hit me yet again. Doesn't help when I have very loud children in my house. Is it just me or do kids play louder when you want them to be quiet?

my sister's keeper

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book or not. I have read one other book by Jodi Picoult that I didn't enjoy all that much, so I didn't have any high expectations for this one. I decided I had to read it because the movie looks so good. I like to read the book before watching the movie, I like to see how close to the book a movie stays. Back to the book, I absolutely loved it! I never wanted to put it down and I didn't want it to end. It's such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story all at the same time. I am so glad I decided to pick this one up, it's a story that will stay with me for awhile. I loved every character in the book, usually there's one I never like but every character was so well written, you get involved with all of them. I hope that the movie can live up to this book, I guess we'll have to see when it's released. This is on my favorite book list for sure, go pick it up if you've been on the fence about reading it, you will be glad you did.

My picture is Zach, this is where he is all the time, constantly at my feet. The boy is one clingy little man, he's climbing up to be with me as I type this. I can't believe that he's almost 9 months old already. I thought that he would just be learning to crawl by now. But, he's got crawling down already and is moving on to trying to cruise along the furniture. He's saying mama, dada and now ticka, ticka (tickle, tickle). Zach's still my happy baby, I'm loving watching him grow and learn.
