I've been finding so many great things on blogs these last couple days, so I thought I'd share some of what I've found.
First, Benita of Chez Larsson has opened up her own shop with her punch art. I really want the Home Sweet Home, it's super cute!
I recently stumbled onto The Bright Side Project, it's full of prettiness, go see for yourself.
Over at Oh Brooke, she had a pillow week, selling pillows made by her mom. And seriously, these pillows are too awesome! I just wish I had some extra cash floating around, I would have bought up a couple. Her mom has now opened up an etsy shop, so go ooh and ahh over those things! The ruffled pillow is by far my favorite!
Another new blog I recently found is Jessica Jane Handmade, the girl is seriously talented! Her pictures make me happy. She also owns the shop, Petite House, I'm sure you've heard of it, if not, go see what she makes, pure adorableness!

Julie & Julia

I decided to read Julie & Julia because the movie looks really cute and you know I like to read books first. I'm sure everyone knows what this one is about, Julie Powell decides to cook all the recipes in Julia Child's book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, in a years time. There's a lot that happens while Julie attempts to make her deadline, so it's not a boring book. After seeing so many reviews of people hating Julie Powell, I expected to not like her either, but I guess she seems a lot like me. It was a good book and I plan to read her next book too.

broken

It was the cover that made me buy this book. It reminds me a lot of the cover for Lullabies for Little Criminals, the story did a little bit too. This book is called Broken, written by Daniel Clay, it's his first book. I somewhat enjoyed this book but it definitely was not a favorite. There are no chapters and it can jump around from person to person within a paragraph. It's about a young girl and how she ends up in a coma, it's not all about her but it all comes back to her in the end.
If you really like to read books like Lullabies for Little Criminals, then I say go read this book if not, skip it.

vintage sewing
While staying at my parents earlier this week (which was an awesome escape from the city!) I found so many of my grandma's old things in my mom's sewing cupboard. Here's a sewing book that I found. Can you imagine paying 15 cents for a magazine?

I was so excited finding it, there's so many cool pictures inside and fun to look at old patterns.

And this embroidery floss ad, it made me laugh a bit. Just look at that 'wide range of color'.

I found quite a few other things that belonged to my grandma but didn't get a chance to get pictures of it all, hopefully next week I can get back there. My mom saved so many great things! I just wish my grandma were here so I could find out why she had some of the things she did, it wasn't all sewing things I found. I found a lot of newspaper clippings about two specific accidents, I wonder if she knew the people because none of the names looked familiar to me at all. I'm so curious, I'm thinking about going to visit my great aunt to see if she knows about any of it.

eclipse & breaking dawn

I finished the Twilight saga a few weeks ago and never blogged about it. I thought I'd be upset for it to be done and to have no more Twilight books to read but I wasn't, I think it ended right. There were things that annoyed me in the last book, but by the time Bella was alright with what happened, I was too. I still think that New Moon was the best in the saga but these two were really good as well. I don't want to give away too many spoilers if someone hasn't read these books yet, just know that they are worth reading. If you want to see some reviews that include things that happened in the book, I'll write more reviews of them in my goodreads account as soon as I find the time.
I don't know why I ever wanted to ignore the whole Twilight thing, I love it now! I finally sat down and watched the movie awhile ago too, I loved it! Edward Cullen really is dreamy, can't get enough of him. I can't wait for New Moon to come out in November!

random
I finally decided to add followers to the blog. It wasn't something I thought about doing before but I had a friend ask me about it, so now it's up. So, follow me! You know you want to, right? You never know, I might decide to do some surprise giveaway to followers, giving away is something I love to do and something that hasn't been done around here in awhile.
Also, I now have a tumblr! I signed up for it awhile ago but forgot about it until just recently. It's where I'm going to post some favorite pictures I find and links to great new blogs or blog posts. Very random indeed, go give it a looksie over here.

another pot holder

I figured out what I did wrong with the petals on the last pot holder I made. I hooked up another one last night just to give the petals another go, this time they look right. I need to get practise following written instructions I think.
My sister bought me some yarn last night so I can make her a granny blanket. I tried to talk her into a colorful one but she was not having it. She wants one similar to the granny blanket I made for Beth. I don't think I'll get it done very quickly, I have to use that ugly yarn that I'm no fan of. But, if that's what she likes then I guess that's all that really matters.
Have an awesome weekend!

a pot holder
I don't know if anyone has noticed but I am really, really getting into this crochet thing! It makes me so happy to make all those stitches, I don't think I'll get tired of it any time soon.

I made this pot holder the other night, using this pattern. I want to make a bunch of different pot holders for my kitchen wall. This one will not be going up, I'm not a fan of the yarn at all, I just wanted to give the pattern a try since I've never made anything following a written out pattern before. I'm not exactly sure what I did to the petals, they don't look right to me.

karaoke

We love to play American Idol Karaoke Revolution around these parts. I never was much of a karaoke singer but since the first time I played SingStar last year, I've been hooked on it! Mostly the at home karaoke, I still get embarrassed to sing in front of complete strangers. We sing "Eye of the Tiger" all the time, it's Sam's absolute favorite song, Beth too.

day 2
Didn't get to take any pictures today, we had a mellowed out day mostly. The picture I'll share today is one I took while at my parents last week.

This is a toy I used to play with as a kid at my grandma's house, I think my mom used to play with it when she was young too, so it's pretty old. Not that I'm calling my mom old or anything, it's a good thing she doesn't read my blog. My kids play with this now when they're at grandma's house. You can tell he's a well loved toy, just look at the worn color. It's a great baby toy, it rolls slightly and jingles. I have no idea what this guy is actually supposed to be called, I just call him a rolly, jingly bear.

a photo a day

I've been thinking about writing more stuff about me and my family again, along with my crafts mixed in, like I had it before. More personal and like a mommy blog, I guess you'd probably want to call it. I don't know if anyone really cares to hear about my life but I'm feeling like I need a place to let out my frustrations and talk about the happy, good times again.

I plan on participating in 'A Photo A Day in August', we'll see how well I can manage it. Zachery was playing around with me and I decided to pull out the camera since he loves it so much, the boy is a ham. We had fun with him making funny faces and then trying to steal the camera from me. I love getting on the floor and playing with him, he brightens even my darkest days.
