So, I haven't written a GIST post in quite some time. It's getting much harder to write these things every day now with hubby sitting at the computer almost 24/7. I'm lucky to get on here even once a day. I'm now just going to write up these posts when the mood strikes I guess, definitely should make them easier, it's been hard thinking of good things lately. Just a bad week though, next week will be better.

oh christmas tree!

I'm finally getting around to posting a picture of the November mystery project that I did from Sarah London, it's a Christmas tree! I ran out of green yarn so my tree is one square less than the one Sarah did. She made hers into an advent which I thought was a super cool idea! I'm already making a different Christmas advent, so mine will just be for whatever Christmas cards I receive.

I'm making some ball ornaments to hang on it, I'm going a bit slow with those, but hopefully early next week I'll have a new picture to show you. And on top, I made a yellow granny star, the color was hubby's choice, I think it looks good.

I had a couple people email me asking if I had a pattern for the granny star, but I am no good with writing out patterns so I'd be zero help. Sarah London has a PDF pattern for sale at her site, it comes with variations to make them too. You can also find a free tutorial over at The Royal Sisters, it's a bit different than what I did but looks the same. There's also a tutorial there for grandma trees, I'm going to give those a try soon, they are so cute!

As you can see the number is down because I did miss posting yesterday. It will be even lower by Monday as well. We're off to Edmonton yet again for hubby to be admitted to the hospital, so I'll be there all weekend, maybe I'll get some shopping for myself done again.

some sad news

When I got on the internet this morning, one of the first things I read was that Annisa suffered a stroke Tuesday afternoon, that's not something you ever expect to be reading. I'm not friends with Annisa or anything, we've only talked a handful of times but I still feel horrible for her family right now. I just read a few more recent updates and it seems that things really seem to be looking up for her right now. I continue to hope and pray that things continue to improve.

All updates and an address to send cards, gift cards, whatever are up at Heather's site and also at the Aiming Low site.

crazy times

These last couple weeks have been pretty crazy with hubby's injury. He had an appointment to get his staples from the surgery taken out yesterday but it turns out he has an infection in his leg now. So, we have to go back yet again this week for him to be admitted to the hospital Thursday. The thing that sucks about it all is that everything related to his ankle surgery has to be done in the province the injury happened in, so we are traveling 6 hours to and from each time he has to be seen. We are being taken care of financially for all the travel with it being a work place injury but the driving is getting really annoying. I won't be taking any kids with me next trip though, Zach did not enjoy having to stay there, it was a rough night with him. We were going to stay until today but decided to drive all night home so Zach could get some sleep.

Enough about that, while I was in Edmonton I decided to leave a few notes about The Bright Side Project, to maybe help me win that $100. I only took one picture of the note left in the hotel room but I left some post-its in a few of the bathrooms I hit up in the mall. I'll try and get some pictures when I leave more later this week. I hope that people actually look at the notes, I really do like The Bright Side Project, I'll maybe make the next ones cuter though.

last night on the couch

Last night I started on Sarah London's November mystery project. I'm only half way through the squares though, crocheting makes me very dizzy and nauseous lately. I really need to get myself a new prescription for my lenses. I'm using Vanna White's yarn, I've never used it before but I really like it, it feels great.

I also decided to give granny stars a try, I first saw them over at Sarah London's blog. Her blog is such a great source for inspiration! They were really fast to make and not too hard to figure out how to do it. They're so small and cute, I'm going to make a bunch more. Maybe make a garland like Sarah and also some ornaments for some friends.

bright side project

I've posted about this site before but I'm doing it again! Not only because there is $100 up for grabs but because I truly adore this cute site. If you've never been before, you really must check it out! There is a new giveaway everyday and all through November they'll be helping you whittle down that gift list!

Don't expect to see any grace in small things posts from me for a few days, early in the morning I'm off to pick up hubby from out of province. He hurt himself pretty bad and will be out of work for at least 9 months, maybe more.

While I'm away, I have an idea for spreading the word about the Bright Side Project. I'll make sure to take some pictures!

halloween

I decided to try and make costumes this year, I made two of these but Lizzy was the only one to wear it. Sami decided to be a princess instead, just like the last two years, maybe next year I can talk her into something different. The costume I made for Lizzy turned out pretty cute, we got lots of compliments on it.

Zach was the bee to go with the flower. Taking his picture turned out to be very difficult.
